State, Bodo leaders divided over violence
Serious differences between Assam government and Bodo leaders cropped up on Wednesday when three ministers of the ruling Congress government not only contradicted the charges of Bodoland Territorial Council chief Hagrama Mohilary, but also advised to restrain in making any remark against any particular community.
Congress ministers Rockybul Hussain and Neelmani Sen Deka told reporters that Mr Mahiliary who also heads the Bodoland Peoples Front, which have an alliance with ruling Congress party in the state should not make any inflammatory speeches at this moment.
Mr Hussain was referring the statement of Bodo leaders accusing forces from Bangladesh behind the violence of Western Assam.
Earlier, Mr Mahiliary not only accused the administration of complete failure in tackling the situation but also accused “Muslim migrants are crossing the Brahmaputra from different places like Dhubri, Bilasipara, Golakganj and even from Bangladesh and entering the BTAD area to create trouble.” He also advocated deployment of Army, BSF and SSB to tackle the situation.
