Clamour for Modi as PM rises in BJP

Clamour for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the party’s Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls seems to be increasing by the day within the party.

After Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj on Saturday endorsed Modi for the top post, Gopinath Munde announced that Modi is capable of becoming PM. The party so far has been treading cautiously on this contentious issue knowing well that its key ally JD(U) is against Modi’s projection as the PM candidate.

BJP had been maintaining that an announcement in this regard will be made at an appropriate time and after consulting its allies.

Names of leaders, including L.K. Advani, Arun Jaitley Sushma Swaraj along with Mr Modi are doing the round as the probable PM candidate.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, “BJP is fortunate to have many eligible candidates for the post of PM. The party will decided who will be when the time comes.”
