Karnataka minister is grilled by CID, held

Bengaluru, May 9: Former Karnataka food and civil supplies minister Haratalu Halappa was arrested in Shimoga on Sunday evening after being accused of rape by a friend’s wife. Mr Halappa was questioned by the CID for three hours and taken into custody at 6 pm, and remanded by a court to judicial custody for 24 hours, till Monday.

‘Dead’ couple turn up at police station in UP

Lucknow, May 9: The UP police landed itself in an embarrassing situation on Sunday when a Muzaffarnagar couple, believed to have been killed, turned up at a local police station and said they were very much alive.
The girl’s brother, Anuj Tomar, was arrested on Saturday on a complaint by the boy’s father, and the police said Anuj had even confessed to killing Ajit Saini.

LCD TVs, mobiles in 676-item inflation list

New Delhi, May 9: The new wholesale price-based inflation basket will have as many as 676 products, including LCD televisions, mobile phones and packaged drinking water, among others. It is likely to be rolled out in June or July.
