61st Cavalry clinch Scindia Gold Cup
The 61st Cavalry trumped IPG by 9-5½ goals in the final of the M3M Maharaja Jiwaji Rao Scindia Gold Cup 2013 tournament at the Jaipur polo grounds in the captial on Sunday. The 16th edition of the prestigious tournament was strongly contested by eight teams.
Major Ravi Rathore was the star player for the 61st Cavalry, pumping in five goals in his team’s title win. He was well supported by the other three players of the Cavalry.
Major Rathore was adjudged the most valuable player of the tournament.
The IPG team were unable to convert a single goal in the first two chukkers and lagged throughout. While the 61st Cavalry team scored six times in the first two chukkers, IPG were yet to open their account.
It was only in the fourth chukker that Bhawani Kalvi struck thrice and managed to bridge the margin.
Major Vishal Chauhan struck the final goal for the 61st Cavalry.
