Advani leads Indian contingent at World Billiards
Having opted to play the World Billiards Championship at the expense of professional snooker, Bengaluru boy Pankaj Advani will lead a strong Indian challenge at the world event which gets underway at Leeds on Thursday.
Also seeking to regain the title will be former champions Geet Sethi and Rupesh Shah.
The newly formed World Billiards Ltd has combined the International Billiards & Snooker Federation (IBSF) and World Professional Billiards & Snooker Association (WPBSA) events into a unified World Championship which will be held in both the time and point formats.
For the first time this year both the ladies and junior players will be compete alongside the men and leading the women’s charge will be current world champion R. Umadevi.
The high-profile event will see 65 cueists in action with defending champion Mike Russell starting as firm favourite.
