Andrews, Cal Public set up summit clash
Jan. 9: Cal Public School and St Andrew’s High School set up an exciting cricket finale as they beat their respective opponents in the semifinals at Indus World School during the third edition of the DC Inter-School Sports Meet held at Indus World School on Sunday.
In the first semifinal, hosts Indus World School, batting first, collapsed to 101 for the loss of eight wickets in their quota of 20 overs. Shravan scalped three wickets for the bowling side giving away 26 runs.
In reply, Cal Public School romped home to a nine-wicket win, chasing the target in just 8.2 overs. Rahul Singh made a blistering, unbeaten 72 off just 26 balls for Cal.
In the second semifinal, Mahesh Vidya Bhavan, who batted first, kept losing wickets at regular intervals, and that didn’t help their run-rate as they mananaged just 87 all out when their quota of 20 overs was up. For the bowling side, Akshay bagged three wickets, giving away just 14 runs.
In reply, St Andrew’s took just 11.4 overs to chase down their target of 88. Chaitanya (41 n.o.) and Manish (37 n.o.) starred with the bat for St Andrew’s.
