BFI names team for Asia U-18 C’ships
The Basketball Federation of India on Thursday announced the men’s team for the 22nd Fiba Asia Under-18 Championship, to be held in Mongolia from August 17 to 26.
The Indian team will be among the 16 Asian countries taking part in the championship.
The squad underwent a two-week coaching camp at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in the Capital, that began on August 1.
The 22nd Fiba Asia Under-18 Championship will serve as the qualifying event for the 2013 Fiba Under-19 world championship, to be played in Czech Republic from June 27 to July 7, 2013. The top three teams from the 22nd Fiba Asia Under-18 Championship will represent Fiba Asia at the Czech Republic.
The groups are as follows: Group A: China, Hong Kong, Lebanon and India; Group B: Korea, Japan, Singapore and Syria; Group C: Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Bahrain and Mongolia; Group D: Iran, Kazakhstan, Philippines and Saudi Arabia.
