Chawla and Kothari in final qualifiers

Kamal Chawla, Sourav Kothari, Varun Kumar and Pushpender Singh on Tuesday emerged the Bengaluru-leg qualifiers for the final qualifying round for the Indian Open World snooker championship to be held in New Delhi from October 14-18.
The foursome will join the Delhi qualifying round winners Lucky Vatnani, Sundeep Gulati, Manish Jain and Faisal Khan. The eight qualifiers will battle it out with the country's top seven cueists for the six spots available for the Indian players as wild card entrants.
Joining the group of players will be youngster Himanshu Jain who turned out to be the lucky loser after Amir Hussain, ranked in the top eight on the national charts, withdrew from the fray citing personal reasons. At the KSBA on Tuesday, Varun shut out Karnataka's lone challenger I. H Manudev 4-1.

Agarwal, Avinash shine as Karnataka take lead
Mayank Agarwal and K.V. Avinash produced dazzling displays with the bat for Karnataka as the visitors claimed a slender four-run lead over Hyderabad President's XI in the Moin-UdDowlah Gold Cup Invitational cricket tournament, here on Tuesday.
Chasing an impressive total of 339 set by Hyderabad President's XI, Agarwal and Avinash played classy innings of 85 and 96 respectively to take Karnataka to 343 in 89.3 overs. Avinash struck eight shots to the ropes and three over it during his nifty innings while Agarwal struck ten fours and two sixes in an energetic display.
M. Ravi Kiran was the pick among the bowlers for Hyderabad, striking four times and giv ing away 57 runs in the process, as he kept Karnataka under check with inspired deliveries.
