Commonwealth Express arrives in Secunderabad
The Commonwealth Express (CWG) train reached Secunderabad railway station here on Saturday to coincide with the arrival of the Queen's Baton Relay later in the day.
The train, which will remain at the station till August 16, aims to spread the spirit of the Games and motivate youth across the country to participate in various sports.
Large numbers of enthusiasts went around the exhibition train comprising 11 coaches. While five coaches feature rare CWG memorabilia, the remaining six are devoted to showcasing Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
It highlights the significance of ICT as a major force of change impacting virtually every sphere of life from industry, health and education to ecology and disaster forecast.
According to the department of Information Technology, the train has been designed to create awareness among people about the evolution of ICT in the country. It also throws light on business opportunities for people under public-private partnership initiatives of the department.
