Devvarman storms into Aptos Challenger semis
New Delhi, July 17: Putting up his one of the best performances in the recent past, Somdev Devvarman entered the singles semifinals of the ATP Challenger event in Aptos, USA after a hard earned win over Alex Bogdanovic.
The second seed Indian beat the seventh seed Briton 7-5, 4-6, 6-0 in the quarter-finals of the $75,000 hard court event.
Somdev will next face American third seed Donald Young, who beat Serbia’s Ilija Bozoljac 6-3, 6-4 in his last-eight stage match.
Somdev had beaten Young last year at the Delray Beach qualifying event. Earlier, in the pre-quarterfinals, the Indian struggled past Alex Bogolomov Jr. in three sets to move into the quarter-finals.
