Double delight for Harika, Sindhu, Rahul
Andhra Pradesh shuttlers bagged seven of the eight titles at the 24th Sub-Junior National badminton Championships held at the Saroornagar Stadium in Hyderabad.
It was double delight for V. Harika, P.V. Sindhu and C. Rahul Yadav as they clinched titles in their singles as well as doubles matches.
Top seed V. Harika lived up to her billing in the girls under-13 singles event as she ousted statemate Santoshi Hasini 21-15, 19-21, 21-14 in a keenly contested match.
Pairing up with G. Vrushali, the duo packed off Upasana Borgohain and Ashmita Chaliha of Assam 21-8, 21-9.
In the boys u-13 singles event, Rahul upset top seed Chirag Sen of Uttarakhand with a 21-15, 21-16 scoreline. Continuing the winning momentum, Rahul partnered his singles opponent Chirag to prevail over Bodhit Joshi and Lakshya Sen 21-15, 28-26 in a thrillling encounter.
P.V. Sindhu downed Ruthvika Shivani 21-13, 21-17 for the girls under-16 singles title. Sindhu and K. Maneesha went on to defeat Ruthvika and Poorvisha 21-19, 21-17 for the doubles honours.
Aditya Joshi of Madhya Pradesh got the better of Chhattisgarh’s Shreyansh Jaiswal 21-19, 16-21, 21-19 in the under-16 final.
