Fennell asks OC to pick up pace
A day after surveying the Commonwealth Games venues as well as the athletes village, Commonwealth Games Federation president Mike Fennell met the executive board of the Organising Committee in the capital on Sunday.
Fennell discussed infrastructural progress and also sought inputs on other operational areas. As reported by this newspaper, Fennell was happy with the pace of work but instructed the OC not to slacken the pace.
“The CGF president was very pleased by the pace of work at all the venues. However, he also made it clear that there was no time to lose and we cannot afford more delays,” an OC source told this newspaper on Sunday. “Fennell was concerned about the landscaping that needs to be done at the Athletes’ Village as well as some of the clean up job pending at venues that have already been inaugurated,” the source added.
