Gayakwad disappoints in 200m
Ace paralympic swimmer Sharath Gayakwad opened his campaign at the IPC world swimming championships with a 10th place finish in the 200m individual medley in Montreal, Canada on Tuesday.
Sharath clocked a time of 2:42.92 minutes, against a personal best timing of 2:38.17 in the 200m individual medley which he clocked at the London Paralympic Games, 2012.
With a time of 2:03.79 minutes, Belarusian Ihar Boki earned the gold medal smashing his own world record of 2:06.30 minutes, he had set at the London Games.
Iaroslav Densysenko of Ukraine won the silver and Russian Roman Dubovoy settled for the bronze. Australia’s Sean Russo and Romania’s Petre Prundaru finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Sharath will be seen in action next in the 100m breaststroke.
