Harinder grabs gold

Hammer thrower Harinder Singh gave India a golden start in the 14th Asian Junior Athletics championships which is currently underway at the Vietnamese capital Hanoi on Thursday.

Harinder set a new meet record clearing a distance of 71.53m to clinch the gold. Ghalennoei Pezhman of Iran and Abdul Hamed Mohammad won the silver and bronze medals respectively.
In the women’s long jump, Renubala Mahanta claimed the silver with a leap of 6.11m, while Sharda Ghule settled for the bronze medal with a mark of 6.05m.
