Haryana, Punjab in quarters
Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Jharkhand completed the quarterfinal line-up with emphatic victories in their concluding league matches of second Hockey India Senior Women National Championship on Friday.
In the quarters, holders Railways will take on Uttar Pradesh, Haryana will face Chandigarh, Odisha will play against Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy will compete with Punjab.
All the four matches will be played on Sunday at Aish Bagh Hockey Stadium.
Earlier today, Haryana entered the last eight stage after registering a massive 22-0 victory over Andhra Pradesh in their concluding league game of Pool B at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium.
Navjot Kaur, who scored four goals, got the player-of-the-match award.
Navneet Kaur (3), Ramandeep Kaur (3), Jaswinder Kaur (2), Udita (2), Jaspreet Kaur (2), Harpreet Kaur (2), Anshul (1), Kiran Dahiya (1), Manjeet Kaur (1) and Anju Dhiman (1) are the other goal scorers for Haryana.
Deepika Sharma scored five goals to help Uttar Pradesh blank Bengal 13-0 in their last league match of Pool H to advantage to the next round.
Punjab outplayed Jammu & Kashmir 18-0 to make the quarters from Pool-D. Sadhna Singh scored six goals for Punjab followed by Amandeep Kaur (3), Shikha Batta (3), Ramandeep Kaur (2), Sukhmanjit Kaur (1), Preety Sunila Kiro (1), Gurwant Kaur(1) and Sandeep Kaur (1).
Meanwhile, Bihar defeated Assam 21-0, while Delhi beat Tripura 8-0 in their last league match.
