Hosts claim men’s championship

Hosts Pushpagiri Medical College men’s team defeated Malankara Orthodox Syrian Christian Medical College, Kolenchery, 61-47 to lift the Mar Theophilos Trophy for the inter-medicos basketball championship at the Pushpagiri Medical College Basketball ground at Tiruvalla on Sunday.

After trailing 24-26 at half-time, Pushpagiri’s Dave Stenny Pothen and Rahul fought back to in the last two quarters and claimed victory. Pothen netted 22 points while Rahul scored 18 points.
For Malankara, Jeevan Poly was the top-scorer netting 16 points.

RESULT (MEN’S FINAL): Pushpagiri Medical College, Tiruvalla, 61 (Dave Stenny Pothen 22, Rahul 18, Tenny Bobban 14) bt Malankara Orthodox Syrian Christian Medical College Kolenchery 47 (Jeevan Poly 16, Kevin Thomas 13).
