India just 1 gold behind England
Dope shame at the 19th Commonwealth Games continued as Indian 20km walker Rani Yadav tested positive for the banned stimulant 19-Norandrosterone, a byproduct of the steroid nandrolone. Meanwhile, Indian boxers won all three gold medals while a fourth gold came in the men’s table tennis doubles. The four golds keep India (36 golds) alive in a very close race with England (37 golds) for overall second place. India also won a silver and two bronze medals
“The Commonwealth Games Federation can now confirm that the A sample of Rani Yadav, a competitor in the women’s 20km road-race on Saturday, was found to contain 19-Norandrosterone...” a CGF statement said. Yadav, who finished sixth, has been provisionally suspended pending the result of her B sample.
