International workshop on conditioning

An international workshop on strength and conditioning of athletes will be held at Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education in Thiruvananthapuram from May 24 to 26.

It is the first of its kind to be hosted in the country and minister of sports and youth affairs, Ajay Maken will inaugurate the workshop.

The workshop is expected to contribute to the modernisation of athletics training in India to be at par with that in advanced countries.

World renowned experts such as Dr Magni Mohr, scientific consultant of Chelsea FC and Juventus FC and Carlo Buzzlchelli, technical director of Tudor Bompa Institute, Canada and visiting professor to sports university of Ciego de Avila and Camagney, Cuba will address the gathering.

Other experts who will be present at the workshop are Robert Baab, technical director of FIFA and AIFF and Scott O'Donell, technical director of FIFA Academies.

Delegates who wish to participate are asked to write to Dr Kishore, principal of SAI, LNCPE or contact Dr Pradip Dutta, organising secretary, SAI on 95445 08052. On the occasion, the minister will also inaugurate the sports science centre at the SAI Centre.
