Karate nationals from today
The 25th senior national karate championship will get underway at Delhi’s Talkatora Indoor Stadium, from Friday. The two-day championship will be organised by the All India Karate Do Federation.
As many as 700 players — both men and women — from 32 states and military/para military/police forces like the Army, ITBP, CRPF, Assam Rifles, Arunachal Pradesh Police, Tamil Nadu Police, Haryana Police, Punjab Police and Delhi Police will participate in the national championship.
On the occasion, a cash prize of `1 lakh will be awarded to Nandini Parmar, who won a bronze medal in the recently-held Asian Karate Championship.
Member of Parliament Smriti Irani, Deepak Mishra, IPS, Special Commissioner of Delhi Police, and Dronacharya awardee Mahabali Satpal will be the chief guests.
The prize distribution will be held at 5 pm on Saturday.
Competition will run from 10 am to 6 pm everyday.
