Kozhikode, get ready to be bowled over
Kozhikode will be the next destination of bowling tournaments in Kerala.
Encouraged by the response for bowling among youngsters in Kochi, Amoeba Bowling Alley is building a permanent bowling alley at Focus Mall in Kozhikode and it is expected to be completed within a few weeks.
“The one at the second floor of Focus Mall will be the second bowling alley in the State,” said B. Syed, operations manager of Amoeba South India.
Already, the company has organised two competitions in Kochi. “Both tournaments attracted a lot of people. The youngsters in the State are really interested in the sport. So we have decided to expand our operations,” he said. According to him about 400-500 people attended the competitions.
“We plan to conduct several tournaments in Malabar. We are also considering a second bowling alley in Kozhikode, which will be started later,” he said.
The bowling alley at Focus will be a four-lane one and will be open from 11 am to 11 pm, throughout the year.
“When we started the alley in Kochi, we did not expect to become a major attraction. Not just youngsters but whole families started thronging the place. Now, we expect the same kind of response in Kozhikode, too,” he said.
The expected time to complete the construction is 20 days. If everything goes as per the plan, people will have one more place to hang out in the city and burn their calories.
