Lok Sabha felicitates meritorious sportspersons

New Delhi: Lok Sabha today lauded the good performance by Indian teams in various sports events, including cricket and hockey, at recent international meets.
Along with cricket and hockey, India's performance in archery, wrestling and snooker came in for praise in the House as it met for the Monsoon Session.
"These exceptional accomplishments are matter of national pride and will inspire upcoming sportspersons across the country," Speaker Meira Kumar said.
The Indian cricket team won the Champions Trophy by beating England in June besides registering series win against Zimbabwe this month.
The archery team won one gold and two bronze medals at the Archery World Cup Championship in July. Besides, the hockey team won bronze medal in the Junior Women Hockey Team in Germany this month. The country's wrestling team won 15 medals, including three gold, at the Asian Cadet Championship held in Mongolia last month.
Aditya Mehta became a gold medalist in the Men's Snooker event in World Games in July.
Jennitha Anto became the chess champion for the disabled by winning the World Women's Individual Chess championship last month.
