Mahindra turn up heat
The 3rd J&K Bank Mughal Rally that rolled out from the Royal Springs Golf Course in Srinagar on Saturday saw rallyists from various parts of India arrive despite the curfew to set the stage for a showdown between top teams like the Mahindras and the Tatas.
Some big Indian automobile manufacturers are here with their handpicked teams to ensure victory.
Team Mahindra have placed their bets on individual teams headed by Gaurav Gill, Karamjit Singh, Lohitt Urs and Sunny Sidhu. Team Tata are in the fray with Sanjay Takale of Pune, Toufeeq Mughal of Srinagar and Arindam Ghosh of Kolkata. Maruti Suzuki are looking at lifting the Mughal Rally crown with s single entry in Xtreme 4X4 in Suresh Rana.
For the first time, the Mughal Rally also has a homegrown grouping of Kashmir entering the competitive fray — Baba Reshi Lions — with seven individual teams. Overall, the representation of women is also higher at the event this year.
