Mane clinches Gujarat Open
Karnataka’s Udayan Mane clinched the Tata Steel IGU Gujarat Open amateur championship at Ahmedabad’s par-72 Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club after carding a final round of 70 on Saturday.
Manu Gandas maintained his overnight second place by turning in a card of two-over-par finishing 290 for the week to take the runners-up spot.
Viraj Mandappa was third with a total of three-over-par 291 after a round of even par 72, while Syed Saqib Ahmed (293) and Feroz Singh Garewal (294) complete the top-five.
Tour veteran Simarjeet Singh had a very disappointing finish to his week carding 10-over-par to finish in the sixth place with a total of 298.
Mane, who was tied sixth overnight, began the day with six pars and two birdies on the first eight holes before a bogey on the ninth.
On the back-nine, he carded three birdies before bogeying the par-four 15th hole which had him under some trouble for the whole week.
He had another bogey on the 18th hole but by that time he was able to seal the title with a score one-over-par 289.
