Mary Kom loses in semis, settle for bronze medal
Indian woman boxer MC Mary Kom lost a closely fought bout against Great Britain's Nicola Adams and settled for the bronze medal in the 51 kg category of the Olympic women's boxing at the ExCel Arena on Wednesday.
The Manipuri boxer's lost the four-round bout 6 points to 11. The score in each round, 1-3, 1-2, 2-3, 2-3.
The 29-year-old Indian mother of twins, who put up a gritty fight in every round, will now return home with bronze.
Mary Kom earlier beat Karolina Michalczuk of Poland in the pre-quarter final with a 19-14 verdict and then prevailed over Maroua Rahali of Tunisia 16-5 in the quarterfinals.
