My performance was better than average: Sharath
Achanta Sharath Kamal may have failed to replicate the 2009 performance at the Commonwealth TT championships here, but the top-ranked Indian felt it was a good experience going into the world championships beginning May 13 in Paris.
Unlike the last edition in Glasgow, where he won a gold along with Subhajit Saha in the men’s doubles category, besides a silver (singles) and a team bronze, Sharath had to be satisfied with three bronze medals at the Thyagraj Stadium here on Friday.
But the world no. 69 is high on confidence. “On a scale of 10, I would give myself 6.5. It was better than the average. Physically, I am feeling good,” said the Indian ace, who leaves for Paris with the squad on Saturday.
“I should be able to do well at the world championships and the training in the last few months should really help me.”
He also felt other Indians including Mouma, Manika, Soumyajit and Sanil have been “in good shape and should be able to pull off a few wins in Paris”.
The 31-year-old added that he needed to work on a few areas, including serves.
