Narang keen on shooting academy
Following his bronze medal feat at the London Games, shooter Gagan Narang is looking to set up an academy in his home state of Haryana.
“My target is 2016 Rio and the 2020 Olympics. But alongside I wish to hone future generation, who can win more medals for the country and the state,” said Narang on the sidelines of a function in Haryana.
Narang praised the state government for its contribution. “Haryana has done so much to encourage and support its sportsperson, besides in terms of financial help. The rest can take it as an example,” he said.
Silver medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar also praised the government’s initiative. “A lot of encouragement had come our way after the 2008 Beijing, which inspired players to do well in London,” he said.
Boxer Vijender Singh, also present on the occasion, said the future of boxing in the country was bright despite the men’s team’s inability to finish among the medals in London.
