New polo season begins
The spring polo season in the Capital, conducted by the Army Polo & Riding Club, got under way at the Jaipur grounds with the International Bar Association exhibition game on Saturday. The season, which will see at least four high-goal or Open tournament runs through till March 10.
Among the top events listed for the spring season are the eight-goal Sanawar SMS Gold Vase from February 5 to 10 at the Jaipur grounds, the Northern India Open Championship from February 12 to 17 at the Jaipur grounds and the 10-goal Maharaja Jiwaji Rao Scindia Gold Cup at the Jaipur grounds from February 19 to 24.
In between, the IPA junior national championship (2 goal) will be played at the Army Equestrian Centre in the Cantonment area, from February 18 to 25.
Also on the calendar are the Howden and Oxford & Cambridge Society of India exhibition matches, the International Polo Day on March 3, the Seven Islands SSC Pataudi Cup exhibition and the eight-goal RM Gold Vase from March 5 to 10.
The season will see the likes of Samir Suhag (+5), Manupal Godara (+4), Dhruvpal Godara (+4), Angad Kalaan (+4), Uday Kalaan (+4), Lokendra Singh Rathore (+4), Navjit Singh Sandhu (+4), Simran Shergill (+4), Vishal Singh (+4) and others in action.
