When Prayag United and Chirag United Kerala lock horns in Kolkata tomorrow, it will not be a mere match for both the teams as both will be keen on winning against their archrivals in the I league encounter.

A win will be an added feather in the caps of both coaches Nizam Packeer Ali of Chirag and Sanjay Sen of Prayag and they will be using their best tactics to make sure of their team’s win in the Kolkata match.

Chirag United Kerala has already reached Kolkata and will be practising there today. “A win is a must for us whichever team we are against. It will be a tough match as it is their home match but our players are performing brilliantly,” said Chirag assistant coach, Bino George.

Chirag United won their previous encounter with Prayag United (2-1) in Thiruvananthapuram with the help of a brace struck by David Sunday. “It will be a great advantage for us. We will be employing an attacking play and ensuring that no mistakes are committed on the field,” he said.

Though Chirag lost their last outing against Dempo in Goa (2-1), the Chirag United coach is full of confidence. “I am very impressed and proud with the performance of the young lads.

The players put up a brilliant and brave performance against Dempo SC, a strong team consisting of seven national players and two foreign players, that too on their home ground.

We were missing our experienced defender Charles Dzisah due to suspension and captain Ajayan was not in the team due to injury,” said coach Nizam Packeer Ali.

“I am also impressed with the improvement of striker Vineeth. He netted a superb goal for the team with a bicycle kick that stunned the Dempo players. We could have drawn or won the game, if Vineeth had not missed an open chance. David Sunday also missed an open header,” he said.

For Chirag United Kerala, the return of Charles will be helpful. However, injury to Ajayan has created a void in the midfield and the team will be depending on Asif for support.

Chirag United Kerala is in the twelfth place and Prayag United is in the fifth place. Prayag drew with HAL in their last match.
