Reds to the fore
It was a lively evening at the American International School. The children were a bundle of energy as they competed at the Vision India Elementary Football tournament. As many as eight teams from six schools played a series of round robin league matches before AISC’s Reds were crowned the champions.
Apart from three teams from the hosts, St. Michael’s, Gateway School, Abacus, Vels Billabong and Chettinad Vidyashram were the schools in the fray.
The event was on the lines of World Cup with students belonging to 14 countries such as America, UK, Korea, France, Turkey, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Japan, Chile, Australia, Mexico, Portugal, Thailand and India. In total, 20 games were played on two grounds. Each game was played in two halves of 15 minutes each.
The 3-0 result might suggest a lopsided contest, but the final between AISC Red and Abacus was an exciting contest. Vels Billabong finished third. Ilan Elad, executive director of Vision India Real Estate, and Barry L. Clough, head of school AISC, gave away the prizes.
