Saina-named robot to be launched soon
Milagrow HumanTech, a domestic robots company, on Saturday announced the launch of a robot in the name of Saina Nehwal, who won India’s first ever badminton medal at the Olympics.
Milagrow has also decided to honor the medal winner by giving five per cent of the sales proceeds from the special edition product.
Pullela Gopichand, India’s badminton coach, will also get one percent of the sales proceeds from Saina’s special edition range for his “yeoman service to Indian badminton”.
“We will launch the special edition products in the name of Saina Nehwal very soon, after consulting her,” Rajeev Karwal, founder and CEO Milagrow said in a statement.
Similar announcement were earlier made for shooting medal winners Gagan Narang (bronze medallist) and Vijay Kumar (silver medallist).
World no. five Saina on Saturday won bronze after her Chinese opponent Wang Xin retired from the women’s singles third place play-off.
Xin was up 21-18 (in the first game) and 1-0 (second), when she twisted her knee and left the court on a wheelchair.
