Sandhu closes in on first Pro title
Ajeetesh Sandhu put himself in a strong position to win his maiden professional title with a two-under 70 and extend his lead to six strokes in the penultimate round of the Rs.1crore DLF Masters golf tournament here on Saturday.
Sandhu, the overnight leader totalled 10-under 206 for 54 holes, thanks to his par saves on the day at the DLF Golf and Country Club.
Young Delhi golfer Rashid Khan displayed some brilliant golf carding a four-under 68 to jump 13 places, and shared the second spot with Noida’s Gaurav Pratap Singh at four-under 212.
Two-time winner Jyoti Randhawa (73, 69, 71) and Ashok Kumar (73, 71, 69) stayed in tied fourth place at three-under 213, while defending champion Himmat Singh Rai (69, 71, 74) was a further stroke behind in the sixth.
Randhawa’s round was highlighted by an ‘eagle’ on the par-5 18th hole.
Delhi’s Manav Jaini (75, 68, 72) was tied seventh at one-under 215.
Bilt Open winner Shamim Khan (71, 74, 71) was further back at tied 10th with even-par 216.
