Scrabble tourney results
Sam Joseph (4 wins-705 points spread) and Asha Kamath (2 wins-11pts) clinched the men’s and women’s title respectively in the RSC Kerala State Scrabble Championship held at the RSC Scrabble Academy Hall at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium.
Tony Sebastian (3 wins) and C. Govind Venugopal (2) took the 2nd and 3rd places in the men’s category while Deepa Gopala Krishnan took the 2nd place in the women’s category.
V Sridev (4 wins) bagged the title in the Under 18 category. Krishnadas S. Nair (3) and Nikhil George John (2) came second and third in the under -18 years category respectively.
G. Tejas Ratnam with three wins clinched the championship in the under- 15 junior category. Yogesh M. (2) and V. Tushar Nilker (1) finished in the second and third place respectively in the same category.
A state record for highest game scrabble score was made by Tony Sebastian of IIM, Kozhikode with 621 points eclipsing the previous record of 613 made by Sam with 613 points.
High word score award was bagged by Sam for the word ANESTRI with 91 points. The tournament was organised by the Regional Sports Centre along with Scrabble Association of Kerala.
