Singapore quell Indian challenge
India’s women put up a brave fight before losing to Singapore on Day Four of the 7th Asian Youth Netball Championship at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex here on Tuesday.
The hosts lost 40-59 (11-13, 8-15, 9-13, 12-18) to take their tally to two wins and as many defeats in the four matches played so far.
Coach Mary Mercia Lourdes Jayasekera of Sri Lanka said that lack of experience was the reason behind their defeat.
“The team was a bit tense, but played a good game. The team did not know how to capture the turnover. The Singapore team moved across the court better than us and that proved the difference,” Mary Mercia said.
In other matches, Malaysia defeated Sri Lanka 59-45 (16-14, 14-10, 11-11, 18-10), while Thailand beat Hong Kong 53-44 (10-11, 19-09, 11-14, 13-10).
