Stud-Sona prevail on opening day

SSC-USPA and Sahgal Stud-Sona emerged winners on the opening day of the Maharaja Hari Singh Memorial Cup tournament as part of the Yes Bank Delhi Fall Polo Season at the Army Equestrian Centre in the capital on Thursday.

SSC-USPA were powered by three goals from Manupal Godara and Dhruvpal Godara as they beat APRC by eight goals to four. While the former scored four of the team’s final tally, his brother added three, the other strike coming from Tejbir Singh Mundi. Max Charlton, George Meyrick (2) and Siddhant Sharma got on the scoresheet for APRC.
In the other game, Sahgal Stud-Sona rode on four goals from Samir Suhag as they got the better of Cavalry 7-5.
Abhimanyu Pathak, Gaurav Sahgal and Sunjay J. Kapur were the other scorers, while for Cavalry, Navjit Singh Sandhu (2) and Ravi Rathore (3) converted chances.
On Friday, Cavalry play IPG, while SSC-USPA take on Jindal Steel & Power.
