Sub-junior basketball from today
West Bengal boys and Chhattisgarh girls will look to defend their titles at the 40th sub-junior national championship at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna, Bihar, beginning on Sunday.
The event, organised by the Basketball Federation of India in collaboration with the newly affiliated Bihar Basketball Association, will conclude on August 25.
A total of 45 teams — 24 boys and 21 girls — from different states will participate in the week-long event, the federation said.
Matches will be played at the Patliputra Sports Complex indoor court and under floodlights at two of the Bihar Military Police’s synthetic courts.
“With the popularity of the sport growing in leaps and bounds, I am certain that this tournament will showcase competitive games and a pool of young talented players,” BFI chief executive Roopam Sharma said.
The championship was held in Verna, Goa, last year.
