Summer soccer camps ahead
Schools are about to close after the exams and football fervour has already started to spread in the northern districts of Kerala through the summer coaching camps.
Several camps will be starting from April 1 in Kozhikode, Kannur and Malappuram to recruit future talent from the state.
The Kerala Football Association (KFA) is also conducting a summer camp in all districts to spot talent. The association is conducting trials on March 30 and 31 at the Kozhikode Corporation Stadium.
“We have received a good number of enquiries. As it is an association-run camp there will be maximum number of players coming up for selection,” says Kozhikode District Football Association former secretary Haridas.
“There are also a number of academies. In Kozhikode alone there are about 10 to 15 summer football camps happening,” said Haridas.
The Sports Education and Promotion Trust are also conducting a set of football camps in Malappuram and Kozhikode during the summer vacations. “Our Under-12 team is going to participate in a tournament in Dubai on April 6. When they reach we will announce the date,” said SEPT secretary P. Sethumadhavan.
“Our camps will start on April 1. About 500 to 800 students are expected to participate in the selection trials,” says C.M Deepak, Universal Soccer School coach.
Other major academies, conducting summer coaching camps in Kozhikode are Kallai Football Academy, and Crescent Academy.
Both their camps will start on April 1. “We are grooming a set of players from our previous batches. With the camp we aim to increase our talent pool,” says Fayaz, coach of Crescent Academy in Kozhikode.
