Theme song for CWG disappointing: Shahnawaz Hussain
Describing Oscar winning music composer A.R. Rahman's theme song “Swagatham” for the upcoming Commonwealth Games as "disappointing", former sports minister Shahnawaz Hussain on Tuesday demanded that the music maestro recompose the track.
"Even after spending so much money, the song composed by A.R. Rahman is disappointing. He should be asked to recompose the song," the BJP leader told reporters here.
Hussain, who was the sports minister during the NDA regime, said people expected the song to be a big hit but it has turned out to be damp squib.
The Commonwealth Games committee has reportedly spent more than Rs 5 crore on the song and has the voices of Sukhwinder and Shankar Mahadevan alongside Rahman.
The song was released here on Monday by Rahman for the October 3-14 mega sports spectacle after it was cleared by a Group of Ministers on the Commonwealth Games on August 16.
