Top seed Achanta in semis

Indian top seed Achanta Sharath Kamal stormed into the semifinals of the Indian Open ITTF Pro Tour at the Yamuna Sports Complex here on Saturday, reports our correspondent. Sharath made short work of Young Sik Jung of South Korea 8-11, 11-5, 11-7, 7-11, 11-8, 12-10.

Sharath will take on top seed Dimitrij Ovtcharov of Germany in the semis. Earlier, the Chennai paddler made it to the quarterfinals defeating Patrick Baum of Germany in a close tie. Sharath won 13-11, 11-13, 11-7, 8-11, 8-11, 11-5, 11-9.
Sharath also paired up with Subhajit Saha to enter the semifinals of the tournament. The duo defeated Harmeet Desai and Devesh Karia 11-8, 11-8, 5-11, 10-12, 11-4, 11-8 in the quarterfinals. They will now meet the South Korean pair of Sang Su Lee and Hyun Deok Seo, who defeated compatriots Young Sik Jung and Min Seok Kim 12-10, 11-5, 10-12, 11-9, 11-9.
