Wayanad schools turn the tables

Government Higher Secondary School Thariyode and Wayanad Orphanage HSS clinched the under-19 title in boys and girls categories respectively in Don Bosco Inter- school table tennis team championship held at Irinjalakuda.

GHSS Thariyode team defeated St Joseph’s HSS Thiruvananthapuram in the boys finals 3-1.
Ajesh K. Mathew sizzled with a double win for Thariyode by beating Abhijith Sankar 11-9, 11-4, 11-6 and Bharath Krishnan 11-4, 11-8, 11-8. Gokul Krishnan won the third game defeating T. S Sreejith 11-5, 11-8, 11-5 sealing the title for Thariode school.

In the girls under-19 title, Wayanad Orphanage HSS (WOHSS) had an easy outing as they registered a facile win over hosts Don Bosco HSS 3-0.

Jasmin Sunny, Julia James and Athira scraped past their opponents from Don Bosco Divyendu Sasi, Ajeena Davis and Alisha Ann Thomas respectively rather easily.

In the under-17 category, New Hope Kozhikode and Nirmala HS Thariyode grabbed the boys and girls titles respectively. In the under-14 category Kendriya Vidyalaya Malappuram and Nirmala HS Thariyode won the boys and girls titles respectively.
