Indian wrestler Geeta Phogat made it to repechage stage after her conqueror in the opening bout Tonya Lynn Verbeek of Canada succeeded in her march to the final of the women's 55kg freestyle event at the London Olympics on Thursday.

India's Geeta Phogat began her Olympic campaign on a dismal note as she lost her first round bout against world number two Verbeeek.

The 23-year-old Geeta, gold-medallist in the 2010 Commonwealth Games, went down in the opening bout to the Canadian who recorded a 3-1 victory.
