How often do we get to see an art show with its heart in the right place? Recently, Shefali Somani and Anahita Taneja, co-directors of Shrine Empire Gallery, hosted the preview of “Pro.ject”, a debut solo show by New York-based artist Kiran Chandra. Using multi-media like soil, fabric, video, grass and jowar seeds, the artist has created an installation to covert the gallery space into a farmer’s field and refers to concerns related to land distribution, use and farmers’ suicides. Kiran later shared, “I conducted interviews with villagers. These conversations with villagers, tribals, journalists, and local activists inspired me.”

Farewell winter
