Karan revs it up
Luxury took on a new meaning, when Chivas Regal’s ambassador Karan Johar introduced “Chivas Studio Spotlight” at Tapas, Lodhi, Aman in the capital recently.
Chivas Studio Spotlight is an extension of the annual Chivas Studio and offers an experiential platform integrating its core “Live with Chivalry”, which is not just about having more, but being more. The dapper Karan Johar was present and the Chivas Studio Spotlight collaborated with Swarovski Elements for art and Drift for music. Swarovski Elements will present a piece by Sumant Jaikishnan from his collection titled “Senses”. Drift is one of the leading jazz bands in the city with over 200 performances to their credit. Commenting on the occasion, Bikram Basu, vice-president-marketing, Pernod Ricard India said, “We are very happy to have Karan introduce Chivas Studio Spotlight in India. The concept showcases an eclectic mix of creative talent under one roof, in a shared, stylish, social milieu. I believe this will be unlike any other event thus far.”
Drift, which is led by drummer Reuben Narain, has an eclectic mix of contemporary musical styles like world music and funk. “The idea behind coming together as a band for us was to write new music that could be a confluence of our personal musical journeys, without being restricted only by commercial considerations. Also, through this band we have found a way to celebrate the music of some of our idols. The group performs the music of some of the greatest jazz composers with fresh arrangements and a ‘new sound’,” he says.
