It was a pleasurable warm-cold evening when artist Sanjay Bhattacharya brought the tranquility of Ladakh and the endearing clamour of the ghats of Benaras at Arushi Arts, The Gallery. His solo show of paintings and photographs was inaugurated by veteran actor Sharmila Tagore, who has been the artist’s fan for more than two decades. “I have known Sanjay since 1990. I really like his work and I have even bought some of his paintings,” she said.
Talking about the juxtapositioning of two different worlds under the same roof, Sanjay said, “I am completely taken in by the calm and peace these places offer. I keep going back to Ladakh and Benaras when I need to be with myself.”
When prodded about the wedding of the year, Ms Tagore said, “I am very happy about the alliance, Kareena is a charming girl. I am looking forward to the wedding which is going to be a simple family affair.”
