Senior serving Army officer and former 33 Corps chief Lt. Gen. P.K. Rath has been declared as a “hostile witness” at the Army court martial proceedings involving former Army military secretary Lt. Gen. (retd.) Avdesh Prakash in the Sukna land case, sources in the legal fraternity have confirmed. The court martial proceedings against Lt. Gen. Prakash are currently taking place at Guwahati.
The Army is conducting the Court Martial proceedings against Lt. Gen. (retd.) Avdesh Prakash as part of the disciplinary action against him in the Sukna land scam case. The Sukna case pertains to the grant of a NoC by the Army’s 33 Corps for construction on non-Army land adjoining Army land at Sukna.

I&B seeks applications for new TV channels

Union information and broadcasting ministry has issued a directive for applicants seeking permission for establishing new television channels. The ministry has asked applicants to be careful from unscrupulous elements who were trying to misinform and misguide applicants.
“This is to reiterate that the ministry encourages applicants to directly seek inputs during open house meetings with senior officials of the ministry,” the directive states.
The notice states that the I&B ministry follows an absolutely transparent system.

6 kingfisher flights delayed from igi

Six flights of Kingfisher Airlines were delayed from the New Delhi IGI airport on Thursday after state-owned oil firm HPCL suspended fuel supplies to the airline on account of unpaid dues of over `100 crores. Delhi airport sources said that six flights of the airline have been delayed due to unpaid aviation fuel dues and added that these flights could be eventually cancelled. Due to the development, passengers of the airline were severely inconvenienced at the New Delhi IGI airport. There was no reaction from Kingfisher Airlines till late in the evening despite several attempts to contact the airline’s spokesperson.
Sources in the HPCL confirmed that the fuel supplies were suspended to the airline at about 5.30 pm.

Icao suggests aviation security Force

A report of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) to the civil aviation ministry on aviation security has recommended that India should set up a dedicated aviation security force, ministry sources confirmed on Thursday evening. Currently, major airports in the country are guarded by the paramilitary Central Industrial Security Force that functions under the Union home ministry.
The government is also now planning to restructure the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), the body that deals with aviation security in the country.
The BCAS, which functions under the civil aviation ministry, could sea a major expansion soon, ministry sources said.
