[1]A day after Kerala Assembly witnessed ruckus in which a woman constable was allegedly injured, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Saturday said he was in favour of visual media being allowed to telecast proceedings of the House live.
In the present circumstances, the entire proceedings of the Assembly should be allowed to be telecast, Chandy told reporters here. This would avoid any controversies, he said.
Chandy said it was ironic that those who did not want the media to view the video recording of Friday's proceedings, were now asking for a judicial probe.
"We want the media to be shown the video recording of the incident and even the copies, if needed, should be made available to them," he said.
Congress had alleged that two CPI-M MLAs T V Rajesh and James Mathew had allegedly assaulted a woman staff of the watch and ward of the House, while the CPI(M) maintained that the staff had assaulted MLAs, Rajesh and K K Latika.
The incident took place when the opposition MLAs rushed to the well of the House demanding tabling of the DGP's report on conduct of the Kozhikode Assistant Commissioner, who had allegedly fired at agitating SFI activists at Kozhikode Government Engineering College on October 10.
Speaker G Karthikeyan had adjourned the House following disruption of proceedings after the Zero Hour.
Meanwhile, Karthikeyan refused to comment on the incident at Kannur and said he would express his views inside the Assembly.
