A man in China spent 6 million yuan ($940,000) of his parents' money who thought their son was studying in Oxford University. The couple sent money for six years, little realising that their son was in Beijing.
The man, 31, who hails from Jiangsu province, spent millions of yuan in the past six years, reported Shanghai Daily citing the Beijing Morning Post.
After his parents stopped sending him money, he had to split up with his girlfriend.
He borrowed about 400,000 yuan from loan sharks, but couldn't pay back. He then tried to commit suicide.
The media report said that the man failed to go to Oxford University. He went to Beijing and lied to his parents that he was studying in Oxford.
His parents decided to forgive him after they learnt of his suicide attempt.
