F1 is business and sport: Karun

“I can’t believe that I am addressing the media wearing my cycling shorts,” giggles Indian Formula One racer Karun Chandhok, as he finished a cycling expedition with young enthusiasts in the capital Sunday morning.

The Chennai-based driver was cycling in the city for the first time. He was here for the launch of carbon frame bicycles, Montra from TI.
Karun, inspite of the uncertainty surrounding him driving in Indian GP next week, believes that he will have an important responsibility to shoulder during the mega event.
According to Karun, he, along with Narain (Karthikeyan), has taken the initiative of educating and informing the cricket-crazed countrymen about various aspects of Formula One. “We have to understand that people don’t know much about the game here, though they are curious to know more. I have been attending events at various places to talk about different aspects of the game,” says Karun, who recently inaugurated a caricature book with the same aim.
“While you will definitely see me in Friday’s practice session, I will definitely give my best, but for the rest of the two (race) days, we will have to wait and see,” said Karun, who was all praises for the preparations at the newly-constructed Buddh International Circuit at Greater Noida where the gala event will be held believes that F1 is business as much as it’s a sport.
“The facilities we have are world-class and all the international drivers I spoke to are excited about coming to India,” says Karun, who has also taken on to micro blogging site Twitter to talk about country’s racing fest.
