Islamabad , April 22: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has asked interior minister Rehman Malik and law minister Babar Awan to clarify their suspicious disappearance from the site of two-time Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s assassination on December 27, 2007.
Mr Malik was then Bhutto’s chief security officer and Mr Awan is a senior member of the ruling Pakistan People’s Party. The two left the scene before Ms Bhutto was killed in a gun-and-bomb attack in Rawalpindi after she addressed an election rally.
The UN team investigating the murder had criticised the attitude of Mr Malik and Mr Awan when both said they heard the blast when they had just left the scene. The report indicated Ms Bhutto was taken to hospital in a damaged vehicle and her life could have been saved had she been rushed to a medical facility.

Sania and Shoaib reach Pak

April 22: Tennis star Sania Mirza reached Karachi Thursday with husband Shoaib Malik on a PIA flight from Mumbai, then left for Islamabad.
Receptions will be held in Sialkot, Shoaib’s hometown, and Lahore, family sources said.
The first reception will be in Sialkot on Sunday and the walima (post-wedding feast) at a five-star Lahore hotel on April 27.
Invitations have been sent to 1,000 people, said Shoaib’s brother-in-law Imran Malik, including 15-20 Indian guests.
