A 25-year-old youth from Bihar has been arrested for strangulating two siblings of his landlord to death in northwest Delhi’s Jehangirpuri area, the police said on Tuesday.
Ashok Gupta, 25, a native of a village in Patna district of Bihar, was arrested for the murder of Suraj (8) and his brother Gopal (6) on August 29 at their H-1/393, Jahangir Puri residence following an altercation with their father and his landlord Raja Ram. The police said Gupta had sought `500 from Ram which he refused and asked him to vacate his room due to which some altercation took place between them. Ashok threatened to take revenge from Ram.
During investigations, Ram’s wife Phool Kumari told the police that the children were found lying under Ashok’s bed and that he has fled away from the area. After months of searching, he was arrested on Saturday.
During interrogations, it turned out that Ashok Gupta was addicted to liquor due to which he was unable to work hard as a labourer and many times used to do petty work for his landlord Raja Ram. “Ashok murdered Ram’s son Suraj by strangulation with a black neck thread. In the meantime, the other younger son Gopal saw him killing his brother and in order to destroy the evidence, he murdered him too,” DCP (northwest) Meenu Chaudhary said.
