Much to the embarrassment of Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia, some farmers resorted to a novel way of protest against alleged irregularities in government poverty alleviation schemes by jumping into a well.
Ahluwalia, who had come to inspect a developmental work in Undan village here on Sunday, was caught by surprise when some farmers jumped into the well.
They were later pulled out with the help of a rope by villagers.
During his visit, residents of the village complained of slow implementation of developmental works in Bundelkhand region.
They alleged that Centre's package of over Rs 7,000 crore for the region was not reaching the poor.
